DJ Sci-fi and Todd Kelley were my biggest advocates on this album. However, I really had some strong reservations about remixing T.R.O.Y. I almost felt that it was blasphemous and a sacrilege for me to even think about remixing it. I had previously used this sample on a song I only would perform at shows called “The Revolution Song”. The Revolution Song was never intended to be recorded. It was only for performance purposes.

I loved the sample so much I just thought that it would work well on this remix. One day after a video shoot I had a lengthy conversation with yU from Diamond District and we were talking about usage of the Kalimba and xylophones on songs. I never forgot about that conversation so I thought that it would be dope to add both of those instruments on this remix. I played them out live at the very end with a touch of Fender Rhodes piano, synthesizer, bass and that was it.

We layered the sampled horns with live horns I sampled from Ryan M during the Sound Channeler sessions. I like this remix a lot.
